The Australian Islamic Centre is an initiative by the Newport Islamic Society (NIS), an Islamic organization located in Melbourne’s West and actively serving the community since1989. As a non-for-profit organization, the NIS carries out a range of religious, social, educational and recreational activities for the local Muslim community of over 10,000 people and the wider Australian community at large.

Initial design phase through to completion – head contractor on construction
New one of a kind Mosque with Imam residence, library and classrooms. The project has received plenty of recognition for its complex design and unconventional construction methods. This project was recently featured in an exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria and an ABC documentary called “Spirit of Place” was produced. This documentary was featured at the New York Design and Architectural Film Festival as the opening film. This project has also been voted as one of two only Australian buildings in Wallpaper magazine top 50 list of “top buildings that shaped culture in 2017’.
